What happened in New York was wrong. It was terrorism. I can’t be sure if what I’m about to suggest is true and it is only based on New York Times articles.
It seems to me, and again this is based on the articles only, the guy was more depressed than radicalized. He was radicalized. It just seems more like a result of depression. Anyone who has felt the despair of real depression can understand hopelessness. It never ever excuses any wrong activity whether it is an act of terrorism or hurtful words to another. There is never guarantee counseling or kindness will ever forestall terrorist plans and not all are depressed. Some people are just without conscience. I’d throw the leaders of all terrorist groups in that category. What those same leaders are doing is offering an outlet for despair. If we can see this on a level we are familiar with we have hope of a real solution at least for the ones used for terrorist aims.
